ZL Global Alliance evacuates Akure Illegal Dumpsite

Residents of Ondo State have been advised to avoid indiscriminate waste disposal by the road side and imbibe the attitude of proper’ waste disposal with the use of waste bins in order to keeps the state clean.

Dr. Abiola Bashorun, the Chairman, ZL Global Alliance gave the advise on Sunday while speaking with some residents living around Olusegun Obasanjo’s way in Akure the state capital.

Ikale Voice reports that the Olusegun Obasanjo’s way adjacent Adesuper hotel, near Ilesa garage used as illegal dumpsite by residents of Akure, the Ondo state capital has received attention as ZL Global Alliance mobilised men and resources to evacuate wastes piled up in the area.

The move has been commended by residents as a welcome development saying the spot had hitherto been a dent on the image of Akure as a state capital.

Both sites of the road had been an eyesore over the years with the area illegally used as dumpsite.

The situation has been a source of concern for residents in the state with calls on concerned agencies to the neglected Area at different times finally gets cleared.

According to a resident who pleaded anonymity, “following the relentless call on authorities in charge of waste collection and management in the state, attention has now been given the area and it now wears a new look.”

ZL Global Alliance, the official partner of the Ondo State Government in Waste and Environmental Management, moved in on Sunday to evacuate the wastes with assurances that, “plans are in place to sustain the cleanliness of the spot and also evacuate wastes from other similar notorious spots in the state capital and other areas of the state.”

Residents, including Mr. Tuyi Adekanmbi, Mrs. Janet Amusan, Mr. Olusegun Ogedengbe among others say they can now heave a sigh of relief as the debris which used to make breathing difficult around the area, have now been evacuated.

Earlier, the Chairman, ZL Global Alliance, Dr. Abiola Bashorun told reporters that the firm will not relent efforts at ensuring the cleanliness of the state towards making it the neatest among states in Nigeria.

He however called on residents of the state to imbibe the attitude of proper waste disposal with the use of waste bins instead of indiscriminate dumping by the road side.

It is hoped that enforcement would be stepped up to ensure that the spot is no longer abused with indiscriminate dumping of waste.
