The Executive Chairman of Irele Local Government, Hon. (Deacon) Olajide Akinfe, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth and sports development, as he donated football kits to Olofun FC ahead of their participation in the ongoing O’datiwa Under-17 Football Competition.

The tournament, which features teams from all 18 local governments in Ondo State, has continued to attract attention for its focus on grassroots talent discovery and youth empowerment.

Presenting the items to the team, Akinfe charged the players and management to approach the competition with confidence, resilience and the indomitable spirit for which Irele is renowned. He urged the team to “spring surprises” and make the council proud by leaving a meaningful mark in the tournament.
He emphasised that his administration remains committed to creating platforms that will nurture young athletes, promote sporting excellence and enhance community development.
While commending the youth-driven initiatives of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Council Chairman reiterated his dedication to supporting the Governor’s efforts in empowering young people and harnessing their potentials for sustainable development.
Akinfe described Governor Aiyedatiwa as “the people’s Governor”, noting that the administration’s policies continue to position youth as central drivers of growth and innovation in Ondo State.
The donation of football kits is one of several recent interventions by the Irele Local Government aimed at encouraging youth participation in sports, reducing social vices, and promoting healthy competition among young people.
Olofun FC is expected to represent Irele Local Government in the competition, which promises to showcase some of the finest emerging football talents across the state.
