A US based Medical Doctor, Dr. Muyiwa DARAMOLA have congratulated the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN on his victory at the Supreme Court in Abuja.
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Eyitayo Jegede had contested the candidature of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN in the October 10th 2020 gubernatorial election in Ondo State at the Election Petition Tribunal in Akure, arguing that he was not properly nominated by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his appeal, Mr Eyitayo Jegede among others requested the court to declare him winner of the October 2020 Gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
His request was however turned down as the Election tribunal, as well as the Appeal Court in Akure and struck out the case in favour of Governor Akeredolu on the ground that the appeal lacked merit.
In a Supreme Court verdict on Wednesday, 28th August, 2021 ruling was again given in favour of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN.
Four out of the seven Man Jurists led by Justice Mary Peter Odili in a Majority judgment threw out the petition of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN for lack of merit.
In a congratulatory message signed by Dr Olumiyiwa Daramola, he described the verdict as a Lead way in the dispensation of Justice in Nigeria.
According to Dr. Daramola, the battle has really set the State backwards in recent time.
“Now that ruling has been given in favour of Mr. Governor, he can now focus on his development agenda for the people of Ondo State as a major distraction has been removed and come to an end,” he said.
While calling on the Governor to extend his hands of fellowship to the opposition, the Doctor also expressed his readiness to work with Mr. Governor in order to uplift the glory of our darling Sunshine State.
