The political seat by Sedinam

The political seat
a poet once said,
“pity the nation, that welcomes its rulers with trumpeting, and farewells them with hooting …”

another writer said, “all political lives, unless they are cut off midstream at a happy juncture, end in failure …”

when we first saw the sayings, we ask, how?

but it is only when
the big man
with big ambitions,
is forced out from the political game,
by the heat of the kitchen from the political house,
that it dawns on us they may not be wrong in their sayings

it is only when
the big woman,
with big aspirations
is forced out from the political play,
by the flooding of the political field,
that it occurs to us they may not be joking with their sayings

so we ask,
if such is the case,
why then do we all,
yearn for the political arena?
and aspire to sit on the political seat?

knowingly that,
hooting and failure are what we are aiming at,
sitting on the political seat
