The Homeless Society by Sedinam

an art photo of the homeless
society rejects her
state also pushes her aside
she then makes the open spaces her home

and the nightly stars watch over her when she sleeps
the cold winds and the day’s heat keep her company

though she feels the pain of their company on her skin and inside her bones

society and state avoid her as she sits next to her misery,
bagged in her homelessness

here comes the camera handler
with a multipound dollar lenses
and strains it
on her to make an art,
out of her misery
and make exhibition
out of her sorrow

at the exhibition,
her haunting eyes stare at lookers of the art photo,
disapprovingly

awards pour in
to the camera handler
to fete handler’s gift
of art photography

even in her sorrow,
same society who pushed her
into the open spaces,
and seized the pie that was hers,

finds a way,
to turn her homelessness into a venture of gain

as she sits at the side of the road,
she sends a plea to society and state
to unblock the alleys,
she could’ve utilized to better herself

so as to be useful,
to all

as she lifts herself out
due to the unblocked alleys,
she will now aid
the camera handler to
make an art photo of
a houseful and a homeful
of once, a homeless lot
