I birthed a daughter,
I birthed a son
the daughter I birthed,
grew up to become,
a mother
the son I birthed,
grew up to become,
a father
these mother and father
birthed more children
their children
birthed more families
their familiies,
birthed more clans
their clans,
birthed more people
their people,
birthed more nations
their nations,
birthed more nationals
I am therefore
the birther of all peoples
making my womb,
the conduit through which
the nations came
hence I’m the first mother
the birther of humanity
I hear people asking,
who is this woman?
for we have no knowledge of her
well then,
I’m a woman,
highly pigmented,
by nature
the first mother,
the melanated woman,
the giver of life
the divine mother
as the black hole,
is the centre of the galaxies,
so the blackness in my womb,
is the centre,
from which life emerges
such is, me
and this is
who I am
now you know
the malanated woman
all mouths, you see
gnawing at a bone,
have once, suckled at
the nipple of my breast
the universe’s
ever first mother
