Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria, has retired from service upon reaching the age of 70. Born on 22 August 1954, he was appointed to the Supreme Court on 22 November 2011 and became the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria on 27 June 2022, following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad. His appointment as CJN was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on 21 September 2022. Events surrounding his retirement are currently ongoing at the Supreme Court. Indications suggest that Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun may succeed him as the new CJN.
