By Smile Igbekele

In contrast to the old saying that a prophet has no honour in his own home, a ‘Prophet,’ Comrade Niyi Adesokan on Thursday received multiple rewards for a job well – done right in his domain.

Adesokan is the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Okitipupa Local Government.

The awards were in commemoration of the end of his administration and free health programme sponsored by Aduro Foundations, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Ondo State Council.

He was so rewarded for his laudable performances during his four year-tenure

It was under his leadership that the Secretariat razed down by hoodlums during the unfortunate ‘EndSARS’ protest of year 2020 was rebuilt.

He equally lead his executives to facilitate reconstruction of the NULGE Clinic, equally burnt down at the council premises, first phase of the free health exercise by Aduro Foundations, due attention to workers’ welfare among others.

The awards included those presented by the management of the local government, Idepe indigenes (workers of the council) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Fellowship, Okitipupa Local Government Council.

While presenting the award given by the council management, the Executive Chairman, Honourable Andrew Ogunsakin described Adesokan as a great archiver.

Ogunsakin admonished the out-gone chairman and members of his executives to continue the good jobs wherever they find themselves.

‘I congratulate you all. Please keep the flag flying anywhere you may be in the future,’ he advised.

Adesokan who said that he was overwhelmed by the awards as well as the praises he received, dedicated the awards to God Almighty, members of his executive and workers of the Okitipupa Local Government Council.
