Shake – Up in APC as Ondo State Deputy Governor dumps party

There is palpable shake-up and tension in the Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC as the Ondo State Deputy Governor, HE Agboola Ajayi dump the party.

Ajayi resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress to join the Peoples Democratic Party.

Agboola Ajayi’s resignation letter.

Ajayi defected shortly after he was restrained from going out of the Government House by the state Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami and his team.

Ikale Voice reliably gathered that Ajayi tendered his resignation letter at the APC secretariat in Apoi Ward 2, Ese Odo LGA, saying everybody knew why he left the APC.

The Deputy Governor thereafter went to the PDP Secretariat where he announced his defection to the party and obtained his party card.

There are valid insinuations that ten members of the Ondo State House of Assembly may dump APC and join Ajayi to officially decamp to the PDP on Monday.

Another source pointed that the NWC of the PDP has settled for Ajayi as its flag bearer in the forthcoming Ondo State gubernatorial elections later this year.

However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Babatope Okeowo, who confirmed that Ajayi had joined the PDP, however dispelled rumours that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has endorsed him as the party’s candidate for the October governorship election in the state.

He said those behind the rumours are agents of government trying to create enmities among members of the PDP.
