A Clinical Researcher and US based Medical Doctor, Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola has warned Nigerians not to allow their cultures and languages go into extinction.
Daramola said this while speaking in an interview with Ikale Voice Newspaper in Akure.
He further warned that if this should happen, parents should be held responsible.
The Researcher pointed accusing finger at the elite – parents, whom he said were in the habit of speaking English Language to their wards even at home.
“The parents, school and government should be blamed for this because during our time, when we wake up, we dont greet our parents good morning.
“We greet them in Ikale dialect or Yoruba language and cultures are religiously observed,” he said.
He stressed that culture, moral and community development top the teachings they got during his time.
He said, “We need to get people to talk about these things at all Levels. I don’t see any issue with a Child speaking more than one language or putting his or her community first.”
The philanthropist, Dr. Daramola who has sank more than 10 boreholes across Ikale communities and supported the Okitipupa local government Councillors with two hundred thousand naira for renovation of their building destroyed during the end SARS in the council said embracing culture would lead the nation to technological growth.
“Embracing our culture is what would lead us to technological growth,” he said.
