The Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin has conferred honorary chieftaincy title on Dr Soji Ehinlanwo as the Ogwagbeminuyi of Owo Kingdom.
The event took place at the ancient palace in Owo which is also known as the largest palace in Africa on the 21st October 2022.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ondo state Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON who was ably represented by his chief of staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Oba (Prof.) Sunday Adejimola Amuseghan, the Kalasuwe of Apoi land, the imperial King of Zion, Dr. Henry Mobolorunduro Ogunfeyimi and other notable chiefs.
Ehinlanwo expressed gratitude to the Olowo of Owo and to the entire chiefs and Owo kingdom.
According to him, ‘’ I am grateful to the Olowo, the chiefs and Owo people for honouring me with this prestigious title. This gives me motivation and encouragement to do more in promoting unity.
‘’in my own capacity, from today I pledge to serve the good people of Ondo state, my community and Owo kingdom.
‘’I will continue to do anything in my capacity to always support Owo kingdom and I wouldn’t want to say much because there is a saying that when you say too much, you may end up missing your track.
Ehinlanwo, thanked the governor for gracing the occasion and everyone who travelled from far and new to celebrate with him.
The governor said, ‘’your character has qualified you for this honour and from today, your life will change and God will continue to be with you and honour will continue to follow you. He wished him well and pray that all his entourage will get back home safe.
On the part of his majesty, he said ‘’ in Owo, we pride ourselves as land of peace, land of honour and we live by that honour and our lives goes in that direction.
‘’ it is on that note, we welcome you to this palace and I also want you to note that we live by tradition and before you can be conferred with a title here, you must have been found worthy in learning and in character. Soji is a gentleman, he added.
The ceremony was crowned with a warm reception ceremony immediately after the conferment at Ademos event center, Owo-Emure Road, Otapete, Owo and there wa a lot to drink, eat and merry.
