Poetic musings

LAGOS NIGHT lIFE
At sundown
The show begins
The suya spot comes alive
And the aroma of barbecue
Fills the air
As beef and innards
Sizzle beneath glistening coals

At sundown
Everyone is in a hurry
Traders and buyers
Commuters and pedestrians alike
A place where Bus drivers and conductors
Attempt to beat the time
By driving recklessly

At sundown
Bus fares sky rocket
As hungry conductors
Yell at passengers
Who haggle bus fares

At sundown
The blaring of horns
Expresses the displeasure of road users
And street hawkers swing into action
As they swarm into traffic like bees

At sundown
The babes morph
From caterpillars to butterflies
With ombre lips and rosy cheeks
Pancaked faces and padded hips
And fade into the night

At sundown
The hostels are pick- up- points
For ladies waiting for an adventure
And zaddies anticipate
A night of booze and boobs

At sundown
The club comes alive
Beer parlors swing open their doors
To welcome customers
And the night life begins
