As APC gubernatorial primary election in Ondo state remains some days and opposition party is desperately working towards challenging the ruling party in the state and hijack the state like Osun and Oyo state.
What are the elders ” agba” of the party perspectives and who do they back in the forth coming gubernatorial primary election in the state?
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR who is the leader of the party was a king maker before he became president and he is still in the business of making kings . It is obvious that President Bola Ahmed has goodwill for Ondo state to become an exemplary state in Nigeria as only oil rich state in South western, Nigeria.
He understands that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR is the only aspirant that can bring deliberate steps and actions to create big ripple effects that can impact on an economy of Ondo state and make life far more abundant to the people of the state, that is why he is giving him maximum support to clinch the party’s ticket.
Senator ( Chief) Tayo Alsoadura who is the chairman of Aseyori in the state was the director general of campaign for former two governors in the state, former Commissioner of finance , former Senator and Minister of Republic of Nigeria understands that If APC in Ondo state is ready to win with landslide victory, there is a need to support an aspirant like Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR with cerebral strategy that can unify different factions within the party and give opposition headache in the forth coming gubernatorial primary election.
It is no more news, the former SSG had in September 2023 declared her intention to vie for the APC ticket in the November 16 governorship election. Odu, 71, had since 1995 served at various times as commissioner with three different military administrations in Ondo State. She also served as the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), before her appointment as the first female SSG in the history of Ondo state. She had also earlier met with her supporters in the three Senatorial Districts of the state and directed them to work for Ibrahim’s victory at the party primary. She understands that JI as he is fondly called is the only aspirant that is equipped with innovative ideas and substantial knowledge to govern the state to become a centre of economic prosperity.
Senator Yele Omoguwa who is one of the political Pilars in Ondo state, a grassroot politician who started from Secretary of the local government, local government chairman, Commissioner in Adefarati and Mimiko tenure before he was voted to be a Senator in 8th Senate describes Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR as the most knowledgeable person to govern the state from the South Senatorial District where rotation predicts to present next governor of the state.
Rt Hon Oleyelogun, immediate past speaker of the state and confidant of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu understands, that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim CFR is what Ondo State needs to excel because of his ability to think outside the box and that he is the only person that can unify the party after the death of Aketti.
Others are 52 former Chairmen of local governments , 34 former members of the state House of Assembly, 19 former commissioners in the state, Hon Ijabiyi( Afenifere icon) e.t.c are the state progressive elders ” agba” who are supporting Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR to be the next governor of the state.
There is difference between “agba” and “agbalagba” in Yoruba language. Some agbalagba and omode in the state are not concerned about the competency of the next governor but their personal interests.
