Ondo 2024: Change is coming

International relations is the league of big boys and big brains. You might be able to get away with mediocrity on your home turf but the international community is unforgiving of such mortal sin.

So, each time I hear of the frequent international engagements of Sen, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, I feel a medley of both joy and trepidation. Joy because it’s a further proof of his leadership mettle. Trepidation because I do not wish for the international community to harvest him like a ripe fruit from Nigeria before Ondo state get to drink from the well of impact and knowledge that he embodies.

ONDO state has never faced such immense possibilities, such choice and such potential for greatness like it would this year when we would be voting Dr Jimoh Ibrahim CFR. In the life of great nations there is always a moment of destiny. Moments that pivot the turn of an age. Such big moments have always had something in common throughout history. They are often revealed and led by great men of great conviction, of purpose and destiny.

The moment is ripe, the situation so profound and the time so right. It behooves us to sing the gospel to the mountains for our people to understand and appreciate the enormity of the opportunity that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim represents for us. It’s a golden chance that time and it’s torrent have bestowed on us.

It will culminate in the rebirth of Ondo state into a state driven by merit, pragmatism, honesty and knowledge. It is the dawn of a new year and Ondo state must chart a new course. One of the bane of the developing world is the assassination of merit and elevation of mediocrity.

With Dr Jimoh Ibrahim CFR we can turn the tide in our favor and have the world look upon our state as model for how a state should be governed. Dr Jimoh Ibrahim is the most meritorious choice both in intellectual content, exposure, experience and ability.
