Jimoh’s tonic : If you cannot stand alone on critical and most important issues, you have no business in leadership

Victory has a hundred fathers but defeat is an orphan, a leader that can’t take drastic decision on important issues will attract detractors who will second guess his decisions, they will undermine his strategy and this will sabotage his efforts most times.
A courageous leader doesn’t want nor seek comfort to win, but strategies on how to win, the tougher the battle, the greater the prize. Critics that are majorly loyalists of Abraham Lincoln refer to him as a “dictator” because they can’t see what he is seeing even if they climb the ladder, members of Congress from his party constantly second-guess his policies and strategy.
Lincoln navigated the treacherous waters of partisan politics in order to prosecute civil war, he developed a working coalition appointed his four main rivals for the Republican nomination in 1860 to cabinet posts: William Seward as Secretary of State; Edward Bates as Attorney-General; Simon Cameron as Secretary of War; and Salmon Chase as Secretary of the Treasury.
After initial missteps, Seward became the most loyal cabinet member. Lincoln stood alone at the onset of the civil war and became a hero with outstanding impacts.
Our Lord Jesus Christ took a critical decision when John the Baptist found himself in a dirty, stinking Roman prison because he confronted Herod Antipas, the governor of Galilee, for committing the sin of adultery with his brother’s wife. And as he was laying there languishing in prison for doing the right thing, he hears about what his cousin, Jesus, is doing or not doing. So he sends some of his own followers to ask Him: Are you the one who was to come or should we expect someone else? Just because Jesus stood alone on that issue and wasn’t subject to his call.
