If there is any word with more than a usefulness, an interpretation and importance, it definitely will be the word “representation” in the dictionary of governance, politics and representation. Leadership is not about wielding authority but empowering all and sundry.
Representation is primarily service before other assignments. Representation is not necessarily occupying a space for the sake of power, just as it is primarily not about fulfilling destiny. Africa’s understanding of representation has always be been about the interest of those (s)elected to provide, but primarily leadership and service to those that elected them.
Representation is the ability to be able provide solutions to the myriads of issues confronting the society from the little available for the upliftment and good of the people. Hence, Nigeria is a nation generally blessed in all ramifications.
The need for the people to be properly and effectively represented arises as a result of the understanding that there are solvable issues. That there issues of decaying infrastructure, unemployment, dwindling economy and the total neglect.

The age long hymn that a term is not enough to provoke the kind of development that we need in Irele/Okitipupa federal constituency was completely defeated with the election of some thoroughlybed progressive in the last general election in some parts of the state.
