Ikale Security Observer donates equipment’s to Ikale professional hunters and vigilantes

A Non – Profit, Non – Governmental Organisation, Ikale Security Observer (ISO) donates working communication equipment to the Security Outfits in Ikale land to enhance their operations.

Ikale Voice reports that the items were presented by Chief Dayo Aiyebo, the Director General, Ikale Security Observer at the second Security Summit of ISO on Thursday in Okitipupa.

Aiyebo said that the gesture was in recognition of the good role being played by the security agencies in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy and securing lives and properties across Ikale land.

“You will recall that after the EndSars crisis, we were disturbed about the state of security at home particularly when places like the police station, the prison, the courts were burnt while public property suffered arson from the hoodlums.

”Then, we conferred with our revered Gen. Olu Bajowa and other stakeholders about the next step we can take to support and shore up the security situation in the land. That was how we came about the idea of Ikale Security Observer (ISO) under the able Chairmanship of Aare of Ikale land, (Prof.) Salewa Olafioye.

“Security is our job as people. It is a collective job. But those who have volunteered to ensure that Ikale communities and other communities across Nigeria are secured deserve some measure of supports.

”I must appreciate most sincerely members of ISO who are sons and daughters of Ikale across Europe and America for their contribution which of course has been immense. Today, in our bid to identify with the proactive commitment of our professional local hunters and vigilantes, ISO will be supplying over 125 walkie – talkies, considerable number of whistles and jackets as well as token to encourage and appreciate the hunters and vigilantes.

“Ikale Security Observer consisting of Ikale World Congress USA, Egbe Omo Ikale UK and Ireland, Union of Ikale Ingigenes (UOII), Irele Progressive Union (USA) and Ikale Association of Canada came together to make what you are seeing today possible.

“ISO wants to appeal to all the security personnel that got our supports today to be law abiding. Nobody is above the law. You cannot take the law into your own hands. You should focus on only the right thing at the right time. But it is good to protect the citizens,” Chief Aiyebo noted.

Aiyebo expressed hope that other organisations and individuals would understand the importance of communities partnering with security organisations to also key in to support it.

Earlier, the in his speech, a copy of which was made available to Ikale Voice, the Chairman of Ikale Security Observer, Aare (Prof.) Salewa Olafioye said, ”It is my great honour and privilege to welcome you to the Ikale Security Observer summit, the second edition. On behalf of Ikales in the Diaspora, I extend our appreciation to you all for the efforts you are making to make our community safe.

”We have been asked to deliver these security materials: walkie- talkies, whistles and uniforms as well as some little token of appreciation to help you strengthen your logistics as para security outfit.”

“I want to stress a point of caution here that the Hunters Association and the vigilantes should not compete with the Police or the Amotekun  corps, should foster a good mutual working relationship with them so that all hands can be on deck to protect our land and provide adequate security for all.”

The Former United Nations Consultant, Prof. Olafioye appealed to the local hunters and vigilantes to synergize with the police, stressing that the job of security and securing Ikale communities belong to all the security outfits.

Also, one of the National Coordinators of Ikale Security Observer, Lord Isaac Omogoroye, said the essence of the Ikale Security Observer is to secure Ikale land by providing logistics to security agencies across Ikale communities.

“In a way, this is our own route to secure Ikale land by providing logistics to security agencies across Ikale communities. To ensure that negative behavior that is common all over the places; kidnapping, banditry in whatever form; that our people are put in place to combat it.”

Further, Olufemi Adeyemi Ayetiran , Secretary General, Ikale Security Observer pointed that Ikale Security Observer is not a security agency but a formation of groups of Ikale indigenes across the globe in active collaborations with others in Nigeria committed and passionate about the well-being of Ikaleland and her people.

He said, “Those in the Diaspora have the mindset of retiring home in peace but the reality in the home front shows a high level of insecurity and anxiety as there is increase in insecurity.

“ISO want to thank all the statutory security organisations that are doing tremendous job of protecting the people of Ikale, particularly the indigenous security organisations such as the professional hunters, the local vigilantes, Agbekoyas and others,” he said.

Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ayenogun Orimisan, the National Welfere Officer, Professional Hunters of Nigeria, appreciates Ikale Security Observer and its leadership on the communication gadgets and other items distributed to professional hunters across Ikale land.

“I thank the organisers of this programme who have decided that they wont fold their alms and watch war or criminal elements take over our communities. This is a good initiative. We will not fail our sons and daughters who invested their time, energy and money to support us.”

Present at the summit were the Okitipupa Area Commander, Saliu Salau, the Divisional Police Officer Okitipupa, DSP Bolaji Mustapha, Divisional Police Officer Ilutitun, CSP Abayomi Okunfolami and the Divisional Police Officer Irele, SP Wole Ogodo and other security agencies.
