Dele momodu disappointed in the president

Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, has expressed disappointment with President Bola Tinubu’s recent nationwide broadcast. In his speech, Tinubu addressed the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, which began on August 1, but did not meet the protesters’ demands. These demands include reinstating fuel subsidies, improving living standards, cutting the cost of governance, reducing electricity tariffs, and addressing rising insecurity.
Momodu criticized Tinubu’s speech, stating that he had little expectation of the President making concessions to the protesters. He suggested that Tinubu’s long tenure in Lagos State, where he maintained an iron grip on governance, made it unlikely for him to deviate from his established strategies. Momodu also questioned the effectiveness of Tinubu’s advisers, many of whom have been his loyal supporters from Lagos. In his statement on X, he described the expectation of Tinubu showing leniency as “wishful thinking,” reflecting his overall disillusionment with the President’s response.
