Jimoh Ibrahim confirms N1bn, 2bn constituency projects for Rep members, Senators in 2025 budget

Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly, has confirmed that N1 billion and N2 billion were allocated for constituency projects for Representatives members and Senators respectively in the 2025 budget.

Ibrahim made this confirmation in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Okitipupa.

Ibrahim’s confirmation came on the heels of a viral video circulating on social media by a House of Reps member, David Ayodele-Asalu, from Osun State.

Ayodele-Asalu in the video claimed that the removal of subsidy made the constituency projects funds jumped from N200 million and N600 million to N1 billion and N2 billion for Representatives members and Senators respectively.

The legislative member, however, praised President Bola Tinubu for his wise decision and his drive to develop constituencies and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim clarified that the constituency projects funds are not given in cash from the federation account but being budgeted in the appropriation bill.

According to him, constituency projects is N1 billion per year for every House of Representative and N2 billion per year for every senator starting from this year.

“All that we do is to write the projects out, and they will be put in the budget, when the executives start to implement the budget, they will do the projects.

“House of Representatives and the Senate are not given cash to do this projects, and we do not receive cash from the federation account on projects monthly or yearly,” Ibrahim clarified

The senator said that he has included several projects that would benefit Ondo South Senatorial District constituents in the 2025 approptiation bill.

“The projects includes: Akinfosile Erekiti 18 kilometers rehabilitation road for N700 million, building and equipping of Joint Admission and Matriculation Biard (JAMB) center for N600 million.

“Others are purchase of 48 units of 500kva transformers for N480 millon, for all the six LGA’s and the rehabilitation of Odigbo, Okitipupa and Igbitako markets for N50 million each.

“Check the 2025 budget of the Federal Government, you will find the projects there, yes, there are other projects  i influenced, don’t ask me how, lobbying is part of politics,” he said.

Ibrahim, however, said that the implementation of the capital projects of the 2025 budget has not started, saying, bidding for projects was ongoing at the verious agencies of the Federal Government for compliance with the procurement directives for accountability.
