Ajimotokin Visits Irele Township Market, Tasks Market Women on Prompt Sanitation

Sanitation is one of the most important aspects of community well-being because it protects human health, extends life spans, and according to research provides benefits to the economy. One key goal of sanitation is to safely reduce human exposure to pathogens.

The Executive Chairman, Irele Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Ajimotokin Olusegun Philip made this disclosure while on visitation/inspection tour to Irele Township Market today.

Hon. Ajimotokin with some senior bureaucrats accompanied by the Baba Loja, Chief Gbadebo Akinfolarin Aka Aloo, the Iyalaje, Chief Mrs. Olowokandi Abiodun and the General Woman Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Mrs. Titilola Omosowo  was given a warm welcome to the Market by the highly enthused Market women who in their numbers expressed joy towards the Chairman’s visit.

The inspection was primarily to:

*  To assess the conditions of the market and the deplorable state of government facilities therein.

* To assess the level of blockages on the market road by the squatters for the purpose of setting up stern restrictions and regulations.

* To know the challenges market women are facing regarding their commercial activities.

The traders lamented the destruction of their shops by the previous government. According to one them, the shops were demolished on the promise that the alternative shops would be given to them pending the time of renovation but all to no avail. She further beseeched the present government to address the yearnings of the market women.

The general Woman Leader of APC, Irele Local Government, Chief Mrs. Titilola Omosowo advised the Chairman to remove the hands of the cabal who are in charge of the lock up shops for their selfish interest and establish a standard which will be beneficial to the local government and the market women.

Hon. Ajimotokin while reacting to the market women agitations said he was not alien of their numerous challenges and that his presence was primarily to address these challenges by putting it in writing with a pictorial evidence and present it before the government for prompt action.

However, the ones the local government is capable of doing will surely be done in no distant time. He added that he will urgently address the blockages on the market roads created by squatters.

The Hon. Chairman assured the market women that swift action will be taken in sanitizing the market by disposing all the waste through the instrumentality of the Environmental Department in the Local Government. He added that there will be temporary dump side in the market but waste disposal would be carried out at least every market day’s because safety of life remains our priority.

Hon. Ajimotokin advised the traders to always clean their business environment to reduces the risks of transferring bacteria or other pathogens.
