The United Nations Office of Counter -Terrorism (UNOCT) Programme Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and countering Terrorism has invited Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly to deliver a strategic paper.
The Global Parliamentary Conference on ‘Counter-Terrorism and the Prevention of Violent Extremism’ is scheduled from Oct. 7 to Oct. 8, in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.
This is contained in an invitation letter dated Sept. 23 and signed by Guadalupe Megre, OiC Chief Special Projects and Innovation Branch, UNOCT through Mr Idi Gado-Boubacar, Secretary General , African Paliamentry Union, Abijan, Ivory Coast.
According to the letter, I have the honour to inform you that the UNOCT Programme Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, with the support of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar, will convene the Global Parliamentary Conference on Counter-Terrorism and the Prevention of Violent Extremism from Oct. 7 to 8 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkey.
“The Conference will bring together parliamentarians from across the world, representatives of parliamentary assemblies, UN entities, civil society, and academic experts to strengthen parliament-led responses to evolving terrorist threats in full respect of international law and human rights.
“In this regard, I am pleased to extend, through your esteemed Office, an invitation to Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunsho, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and member of the African Parliamentary Union delegation, to participate in this important Conference as his contribution will add significant value to the discussions and outcomes,” the letter read.
Meanwhile, immediately after delivering his paper at the world counter-terrorism conference, the billionaire business magnate would proceed to the USA to attend the World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) ancillary meeting from Oct. 13 to Oct.18, in Washington DC.
He would join other world economists in the World Bank/IMF spring meeting to deliberate on issues bothering on world economy.
