
The Director General, Ondo State Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU), Engr.Babajide Akeredolu has commended the Chairman/Founder, Femi Ayejusunle and the entire FOLIAGE team for championing the course of advocacy for afforestation in ondo state.
Engr. Akeredolu who gave the closing remarks at the event held by FOLIAGE in Akure, the state capital today couldn’t hide his pleasure and total acceptance of the tree planting initiative.
Addressing the tonnes of participants present at the seminar; “the forestry part of the state is often underrated while it’s continually exploited. However, it’s the second highest contributor to the state’s coffer, more reason we must do all doable to preserve and conserve it and resources therein”
“A depletion in the forest is tantamount to a depletion in revenue of the state. More so, the overwhelming importance of trees on humanity and preservation of our environment is enough to encourage every individual, young and old to imbibe the culture of planting trees”, he stressed further.
He therefore encouraged the initiative whilst pledging support towards the sustainability of the programme so as for the organisers to take it down to other regions and local government areas of the state.
He rounded his speech up whilst leading participants in company of Hon Oseni, Special Adviser to the Governor on environment and Barr. David Adesina, Project Coordinator, Ondo State Redd+ Project (represented) for a tree planting demonstration at the pilot site allocated to the foundation in St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School, Akure.
