The Irele Local Government has made known its resolve to affect its people in a much better way and step up from the previous council administration in the area.
Addressing participants of the 51st Nigeria Independent anniversary at Irele last week, the Irele Local Government Chairman, Hon. Akinbiola Oluwatobi said his administration is ready to impact lives at the grassroots.
“We are aware of the high level of poverty at the grassroots and we are ready to help our people get out of it,” Hon. Akinbiola said.
He further revealed that all aged persons from Irele council area would be enlisted in a scheme where monthly salaries would be paid, to assist them.
“Widows from 60 years would be paid salaries from my administration. Also, the old aged from 70years would be entitled to monthly wages,” He revealed.
Expalining further, Hon. Akinbiola said only widows that married one husband would be entitled to the Widows Salary Scheme of the council.
The Council Chairman pointed that his administration has started the clearing of all refuse dumped in the council area, stressing that very soon, the council would be a proud place to identify as a source for Natural resources in Nigeria.
Comparatively, a student of Comprehensive High School, Ode – Irele, Miss Moyin was presented a cash gift of N50,000 for her skills on cultural dance.
The gift which was presented by the Local Government was to assist register her for the forth-coming Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.
